Cuisine American
- 1 teaspoon Finely minced ginger
- (Peeled and minced) 2 cloves of fresh garlic
- 4 tablespoons Brown sugar
- ¼ cup Soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons Mirin or dry sherry
- 1 cup Water
- 2 tablespoons Cornstarch (thickening agent)
- 2 tablespoons Honey
- ¼ cup Cold water for cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
Prepare the garlic and ginger by peeling and finely mincing them.
Bring the garlic, soy sauce, mirin, one cup of water, ginger, brown sugar, and honey, along with 1 cup of water, to a simmer in a medium saucepan.
Pour 1 cup of really cold water into the cornstarch and stir it continually into the sauce until it dissolves.
When the cornstarch is added to the sauce, it will begin to thicken. Continue simmering for five more minutes until the consistency you prefer is reached. A thinner sauce can be made by adding water.
Make any necessary adjustments to your sauce based on the taste.
Make sure the salt and pepper are well seasoned.
The sauce should be allowed to cool before serving.
