Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 cup Milk, (2% or whole milk)
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1/8 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Sea salt
  • 2 garlic cloves (finely grated)

Instructions

  • The butter should be melted over medium heat in a small saucepan. Stir in the flour and heat for 1-2 minutes (do not let it brown).
  • While whisking constantly, add the milk gradually until smooth, thickened, and bubbly.
  • Garlic, salt, and black pepper should be whisked in.
  • Continue whisking for 30 seconds more after adding parmesan cheese. Immediately remove from heat and whisk until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth. Let cool completely before using. Be careful not to boil the sauce after adding cheese, as it may curdle. After cooling, cover and store in the refrigerator for up to five days.

Notes

  • Begin with the recommended amount and taste the sauce.
  • Add more Parmesan if you desire a stronger cheesy flavor.
  • If you want a lighter touch, use less cheese or consider adjusting the type of Parmesan for a subtle variation in taste.
  • Remember, the key is to find the right balance that suits your taste preferences.
