Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons Cocoa Powder
  • 1/3 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons All Purpose Flour
  • one 9-inch Pie Crust
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 1/2 cup Evaporated Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • Whipped Cream

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat and preheat the oven to 350°F. Combine the sugar, salt, and cocoa powder in a bowl and whisk until smooth.
  • To ensure the evaporated milk combines with the other ingredients, pour it slowly.
  • Stir in each egg thoroughly before adding the next, cracking open the eggs one at a time. Combine the vanilla and all the ingredients until smooth.
  • Using a spatula or spoon, spread the mixture evenly on the unbaked pie crust. Make sure the pie is floured by sprinkling 2 tablespoons of flour on top.
  • You should bake it for 30 minutes or until it is set in the middle. Before serving, let it cool, then top it with whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use room-temperature eggs for a smoother filling.
  • Mix gently to avoid overworking the pie.
  • Preheat the oven for even baking.
  • Check for doneness towards the end, looking for a slight jiggle in the center.
  • Make sure the pie is completely cooled before slicing.
