Ingredients
  

  • 14 ounces Goya Dry Green Split Peas
  • 2.80 ounces Goya Chicken Bouillon
  • 2.11 ounces Goya Sazon Without Annatto
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 Medium Chopped White Onion
  • 1 Minced Clove Garlic
  • 1 Large Diced Carrot
  • ¾ cup Diced Smoked Ham
  • 6 cups Water
  • Black Pepper To Taste
  • Salt To Taste

Instructions
 

  • Goya green split peas should be sorted and washed after opening the bag.
  • Chop onion, mince garlic, dice carrot, and dice smoked ham into an 8-quart pot and heat the oil on medium heat.
  • Stir the mixture for 5 minutes and then turn off the heat.
  • Cook 6 cups of water at medium-high heat, add Goya Peas, Chicken Bouillon, and Sazon, and bring to a boil.
  • Turn the heat to low and stir the mixture with a wooden spoon.
  • The peas should be tender after 1 to 1 1/2 hours of simmering.
  • Depending on your taste, add salt and ground black pepper.
  • You may need to add some more hot water if necessary.
  • It can be served in individual bowls after it has finished cooking.
  • To make it even more delicious and tasty, you can top it with cheese or croutons.
