  • 8 ounce Tomato Paste
  • 3 ounce Water
  • 3 tablespoons All-purpose Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Dehydrated Onion Flakes
  • 2 tablespoons Chili Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Powder
  • ¾ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Sugar
  • ½ teaspoon Citric Acid
  • ¼ teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Caramel Color

Instructions

  • Prepare the mixture by mixing flour, onion powder, chili powder, paprika, cornstarch, red pepper powder, salt, cocoa powder, sugar, citric acid, garlic powder, and caramel color together in a mixing bowl.
  • Stir tomato paste and water together in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • To combine the tomato paste and water, gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the saucepan.
  • The mixture should come to a boil in the saucepan over medium heat, then be reduced to a simmer as soon as it begins to bubble.
  • For about 10 minutes, simmer the sauce uncovered, stirring occasionally. As a result, the sauce thickens and the flavors combine.
  • Once simmered, you're ready to use Lawry's Enchilada Sauce Mix! In recipes that call for enchilada sauce, you can pour it over enchiladas, marinate in it, or use it as a marinade.
